LandQuest Ventures, LLC field scientists conducted ecological, biological, and water quality studies on the Lullwater Lake Basin system from 2023-2026. The goal the assessment was to better understand existing water quality and the structure and function of ecosystems with the lake basin system in order to develop improved management options. Results of the study have been used to promote possible improvements to reduce the potential future environmental impacts.

Ecological personnel collected water quality samples at fourteen (14) different locations within the lake system from the spring of 2023 through the summer of 2026.

This site is the launching point for contractors into Lullwater Lake. Waters here are shallow here. Algal matter and inorganic muck make up the lake bottom here. Once permitted, this area will be the launching point for the contractor’s harvesting and dredging equipment.

Seahorse Lake located next to Pier Park is sandwiched between a city-owned pond to the northwest and both Gulfview and Star Lakes further to the west. Nuisance vegetation and a shallow mucky lake bottom are predominate. Eastern muck turtles and various ducks have been sighted in this lake.

Aaron Bassant Park is a city-owned and operated park facility just east northeast of Lullwater Lake. The vast majority of the park’s lands consist of flat, grasslands and open fields. Two-acres of the park are being considered for dredge material staging near the location in the photo above. A mitigation site and conservation are found just outside the park boundaries.

Several natural springs are located just outside the northwestern finger of Lullwater Lake. Nestled in a residential community, these springs combine to drain to the south eventually reaching the lake’s shallow drainage corridor. Presently, these spring flows are blocked by extensive sediment and muck buildup.
